- Some election observers will be holding a meeting with Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna on Friday, February 15
- While details as to the agenda of the meeting are not known yet, reports indicate that the observers had arrived the state in company of some security agents
- This is coming just days after the governor made his controversial body bag statement that triggered reactions from most Nigerians
Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna will be holding a meeting with observers for the presidential and National Assembly elections in the state, TVC News reports.
Although it is yet not known what the said meeting will be on, reports reveal that the observers, alongside some security agents, arrived the state capital on Friday, February 15.
Earlier, Legit.ng had reported that El-Rufai, said any “foreign power” that tries to intervene in the forthcoming general elections would go back to their country in body bags.
The governor said this on Tuesday, February 5, as he also said the country will never be dominated by any foreign influence.
He said: “Those that are calling for anyone to come and intervene in Nigeria, we are waiting for the person that would come and intervene, they would go back in body bags."
However, the governor had clarified his ‘body bags’ comments following massive reactions; describing the anger that followed his comments as ‘false outrage’ which must be stopped.
El-Rufai, in a statement issued via his media aide, Samuel Aruwan, insisted that his comments were a powerful defense of Nigeria’s sovereignty, not a call for violence.
