Emir of Daura, 450 chiefs endorse Buhari ahead of presidential poll

The emir of Daura, Alhaji Umar Farouk Umar, 16 district heads and 450 village heads have endorsed President Muhammadu Buhari ahead of the Saturday, February 16 poll.

The endorsement came on Thursday night, February 14, as President Buhari rounded off his re-election election campaign in his hometown of Daura, Katsina state, News Agency of Nigeria reports.

Legit.ng gathers that the emir conveyed the total support of the emirate to President Buhari, when Buhari visited after a massive rally in Katsina.

Alhaji Umar pledged that the re-election of Buhari, is a task for all Daura people and all Nigerians who desire a peaceful, prosperous and stable Nigeria.

He said: ‘‘We believe that President Buhari, our son, has done well for the country and deserves a second term to consolidate on his numerous and remarkable achievements for the good of the country.

‘‘ The 16 district heads and 450 village heads representing religious and traditional leaders in Daura Emirate have pledged their full support to the President’s re-election because he has shown responsible and honest leadership.’’

President Buhari, who visited all the 36 states in Nigeria and the Federal Capital Territory of Abuja, thanked all Nigerians for the huge show of support.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that President Muhammadu Buhari warned public officials, particularly those elected and appointed into office, that they must keep public trust or leave.

The president’s senior special assistant on media and publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, in a statement, said Buhari gave the warning during a courtesy visit to the palace of emir of Katsina, Alhaji Abdulmumini Kabir, on Thursday, February 14.

The president was in Katsina for the grand finale of the APC presidential campaign rally before the election of Saturday, February 16, having visited all the states including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

President Buhari said: “Those who betray the people’s trust, we will not spare them, they would be fished out and dealt with.”

He also told the Emir and members of the Emirate Council that the promises he made before his election in 2015 had been met, adding with certainty that all he needed was a second term and would not ask for more.

The president added: “There is hope in the future of this great country."

He, however, appealed to all Nigerians to ensure peaceful conduct of the election.

The president highlighted his administration’s achievements in infrastructure development, including improved power supply, as well as empowering artisans, craftsmen, tailors, barbers and battery chargers to increase output and better their own lives.
