Nigeria’s number one online media, Legit has been selected among 87 media organisations to receive Google news initiative funding. Legit was included among broadcasters, publishers and 87 organisations in 23 countries. Among those selected are media giants such as BuzzFeed News, The Economist, The New York Times and others.
YouTube’s most estimable selection criteria were a commitment to quality journalism and a spirit of innovation.
As a leading media platform in Nigeria, Legit.ng always uses cutting-edge technology and the latest analytical tools to create outstanding content, track its performance and study audience preferences. Our video team will continue to double-check facts and cover all trending and significant news.
YouTube funding will serve as capacity building to support Legit TV video operations. The funding will also be deployed to obtain new equipment and studio space. With the renewed technics we will expand the coverage of the upcoming presidential elections by direct live streams in order to help people with live updates on their laptops and mobile phones.
The team will also work on strengthening and developing Hausa news coverage with well detailed video contents.
Legit TV is eager to contribute the efforts in launching its own Video Journalism School come September 2019. This will enhance the Nigerian market with strong professionals as we share our expertise with selected candidates.
None of these would be possible without our dearest audience.
Thank you for being with Legit.ng. We are proud of this achievement and looking forward to sharing more inspiring, educating videos with you.
