Ahead of the presidential election, the governor of Imo state, Rochas Okorocha, has called on Igbos to vote for President Muhammadu Buhari so as to exercise their right of asking for the presidency in 2023.

Okorocha made the call on Thursday, February 14, while campaigning for the president at Okigwe zone and Owerri zone, Daily Trust reports.

Legit.ng gathers that he said if Igbos don't vote for Buhari, they may not get a shot at the presidency, even by 2031.

Okorocha further expressed regret that just as they did in 2015, some Igbo politicians are campaigning to deceive Ndigbo again.

He said: “On Saturday, if Igbos support Buhari and Buhari wins, in 2023, Igbos will have the right to demand for Igbo presidency.

"Those who love Igbo nation must vote for President Buhari because if we miss this chance, we may not get the presidency even by 2023 or 2027 or 2031.

"The time is right for the Igbo nation to play the right politics so as to have a clear chance by 2023.”

He continued: “Some people, especially our brothers, are campaigning now against President Buhari, saying that he is a herdsman, etc.

“You can remember in 2015, I was telling the Igbos, cast your vote for Buhari because President Buhari will win, with or without the votes of the Igbos.

"I was called all sorts of derogatory names. Some said I was going to Islamize the whole Igbos. Is Igbo land Islamized today?”

The governor chided Ndigbo for not playing politics like other tribes, saying: “Igbos today are playing politics with the mindset of a trader, thinking only of the immediate benefits; unlike other tribes that are playing real politics.

“My people listen to me and listen real good, whatever I tell you to do, do it as it will profit us. I am telling you today that Buhari will win."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that Senator Andy Uba, the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s senatorial candidate for Anambra South, stated that with or without the votes of Ndigbo, President Muhammadu Buhari will win the forthcoming presidential election by a landslide.

Uba made the assertion while addressing party faithful at a rally in Nnewi on Wednesday, February 13.

He urged the people of the south-east to resist the mistakes of 2015 when the APC was not voted for in the geopolitical zone.
