- Alexandre Lacazette was sent off in Arsenal’s Europa League defeat to BATE Borisov
- Lacazette was handed a straight red card for a deliberate elbow
- Both teams will clash again in the reverse fixture next week at Emirates
Alexandre Lacazette has tendered an apology after his red card in Arsenal’s 1-0 loss to BATE Borisov in Thursday evening Europa League clash.
Arsenal need to win the reverse fixture at the Emirates next week if they nurse any ambition of reaching the Europa League last 16.
However, they must do that without Lacazette, who has netted 12 times across all competitions this season, but was sent off for elbowing Aleksandar Filipovic five minutes from full time.
And moments after the game the Frenchman took to the social media to plead for mercy.

“let the team down’ with his moment of frustration.
“Letting the team down like that is the worst feeling,’ Lacazette posted on Twitter.
“I should have stayed calm but it’s not always easy. Sorry.
“There are still 90 minutes to play and I believe that my teammates will make it to the next round.”
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that BATE Borisov beat the Arsenal 1-0 in the first leg of their Europa League round of 32 encounter.
The home fans were sent into serious jubilation at the Borisov Arena considering the fact that they have lost all three of their previous home games against English clubs in European competition.
