Kano central: I’m not afraid of Kwankwaso - Ibrahim Shekarau

- Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, the former governor of Kano, has disclosed his readiness to contest for the state central senatorial seat

- Shekarau declared that he is not afraid to jostle the position with Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso’s anointed candidate, Sani Madakin Gini

- According to the governor, the electorate would decide between him and the Kwankwaso’s anointed candidate

Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, the former governor of Kano state, disclosed that he is not afraid to face Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso’s anointed candidate, Sani Madakin Gini, in forthcoming contest for Kano central senatorial seat.

Daily Trust reports that Shekarau who made this known on Wednesday, February 13, said the electorate would decide between him and Kwankwaso’s anointed candidate.

Shekarau said: “I wish Kwankwaso will contest himself then we will slug it out. Kwankwaso is an absentee senator. He has never set his foot in Kano for the past three and a half years. He has never met with his constituents within this period."

The former education minister also dispelled rumours on the alleged sour relationship between him and President Buhari, saying: “I am not aware of any disquiet between me and Buhari. Those insinuating it have never heard from either Buhari or myself that our relationship is not cordial.”

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that the APC announced the results of the senatorial primary election for Kano state, as the former governor of the state, Ibrahim Shekarau, and two incumbent senators, Kabiru Gaya and Barau Jibrin, won the party's tickets.

Shekarau who picked the ticket for Kano Central senatorial district in the election scored 973,435, Gaya got 1,05057 votes and Jibril emerged unopposed.

This was stated by the presiding officer of the primaries Garba Saleh while announcing the results after the election.

Shekarau who recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party to the APC said his decision was due to the injustice meted on him and his supporters by the PDP leadership.
