Hajiya Hadiza Usman, the administrator of Jaba local government area in Kaduna state, has urged Nigerians to have confidence in the ability of the Independent National Election Commission (INEC) to conduct credible elections on February 16 and March 2.
Usman, who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday, February 14, in Kafanchan, noted that INEC’s state of preparedness for the elections was never in doubt.
Legit.ng gathers that she also appealed to Nigerians to give the commission the benefit of doubt.
“I urge Nigerians to discard any form of pessimism and bias against the credibility and transparency of the electoral umpire.
“I strongly believe that, against seeming challenges, INEC will not betray the hope and aspiration of Nigerians,” she said.
She, however, advised the people of the area to be in an orderly manner during and after the forthcoming elections.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that ahead of the 2019 elections, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), alleged that the Independent National Electoral Commission was working to the advantage of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Oshiomhole made the allegation on Wednesday, February 13, at a press briefing in Abuja, the nation’s capital.
He said the APC was seriously concerned over signals from Rivers and Zamfara states where the electoral commission had barred the ruling party from presenting candidates.
