Mesut Ozil seems to be in high spirits despite being overlooked by Unai Emery for the Gunners' Europa League encounter against BATE Borisov.

Ozil has not had the best of times since the arrival of Emery in the summer, playing a paltry 102 minutes of football this year.

The playmaker was not part of Arsenal's squad that claimed a vital victory over struggling Huddersfield Town last weekend.

It was claimed that Ozil missed the tie due to illness, but recovered early enough to resume training on Wednesday, February 13.

However, Emery insisted the 30-year-old was not fit enough to feature in the Thursday clash, thereby dropping him from the squad.

"We are here with the players who I think are OK to play," Emery said before the team flew out to Belarus on Wednesday.

In a message sent to club supporters after the training session, Ozil maintained he had no ill-effects missing from the squad.

Ozil took to social media after the squad announcement, sharing of himself and team-mates training with the caption, "Today’s winning team. Training fun.”

Despite Ozil's apparent buoyancy, his future at the Emirates remains under sharp speculation owing to lack of game time under Emery.

Earlier, reported that Mesut Ozil was rejected in the January transfer window by top European clubs after Arsenal tried to sell him, reports from Italy claim.

The former German midfielder was said to have been offered to Italian champions Juventus but the Old Lady were put off by his £350,000 weekly wages.

And according to Italian news media outfit, the Bianconeri had refused the offer back in November, but opted for Aaron Ramsey who signed a pre-contract agreement for next summer. ( -> We have updated to serve you better
