The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) welcomed hundreds of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) members in Anambra state into their folds ahead of the 2019 general elections.
The defectors were drawn from across the 21 local governments of the state and they comprise of former APGA chairmen and other executives members, The Sun reports.
Dr Harry Oranezi, campaign director, PDP presidential campaign, while speaking during the welcoming rites in Awka, Anambra state commended the defectors for making the decision to leave APGA.
He urged the new members of the party to immediately key into the party’s ideology, stressing that it was only the PDP that is capable of liberating the country from her current woes, The Sun reports.
Going further, Oranezi urged them to ensure that all PDP candidates in the state and in the presidential election win.
On his part, the senatorial candidate of the party in Anambra Central, Uche Ekwunife, while welcoming the defectors to the PDP, gave them assurance that they have the total support of the party.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that Senator Andy Uba, the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s senatorial candidate for Anambra South, stated that with or without the votes of Ndigbo, President Muhammadu Buhari would win the forthcoming presidential election by a landslide.
Uba made the assertion while addressing party faithful at a rally in Nnewi on Wednesday, February 13.
