Sarri watches helplessly as Blues academy force Chelsea stars to 3-3 draw

- Chelsea suffered a 6-0 defeat to Man City in a Premier League clash

- The side's humiliation continued during a training session that saw Chelsea stars draw against the academy side

- Sarri was pictured cutting a dejected figure during the session

Just two days after Chelsea's 6-0 thumping by Manchester City in a Premier League clash, Maurizio Sarri was once again forced to watch his side held to a 3-3 draw by the academy side during a training session.

The Chelsea boss had hoped his wards would bounce back to a positive mood faster ahead of their Europa League encounter against Malmo FF in the competition's Round of 32.

However, the Italian tactician watched impotently as part of the first team was forced to a 3-3 draw by the youth side.

According to a UK Metro report citing The Times, Sarri's team constituted players who did not feature in Sunday's defeat to Man City.

Those who took part in the training match included Willian and Olivier Giroud.

Despite remaining in contention for three cup competitions including the FA, the west London club's wheels seem to be coming off swiftly.

Meanwhile, Sarri is understood to have held a 60-minute crisis meeting with senior players who were involved at the weekend to analyse the woeful performance.

The defeat saw the Blues slip to sixth on the Premier League standings, with the hope of Champions League football next season now fizzling away.

Sarri had a bright start to life at Stamford Bridge in the early months, but a string of poor results into the new year have left his job hanging in the balance.

He will be hoping to make amends when his side face Malmo on Thursday, February 14, in the Europa League.

Earlier, reported that Zinedine Zidane is on the radar of Chelsea as No.1 candidate to step in for under pressure Italian boss Maurizio Sarri.

According to Metro citing UK Sun, Sarri, who arrived Stamford Bridge barely eight months ago with lots of expectations is no longer in the good books of Blues’ board following spate of bad results including Sunday’s 6-0 bashing at Man City, incidentally, Chelsea’s heaviest defeat since 1991.
