- The Buhari campaign director general in Ekiti state advises Amosun to repent and change his ways
Olusegun Osinkolu, the director general of the Buhari/Osinbajo campaign council in Ekiti state, has warned that the anti-party posture of Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun could lead to the defeat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
Osinkolu further warned that that the crisis in the APC in Ogun could lead to less votes for Buhari in the election.
He described the activities of Amosun and his opposition to the APC governorship candidate in Ogun, Dapo Abiodun, as unfortunate.
This Day reports him as saying apart from Amosun, allegations of anti-party activities have also been leveled against some other governors in the south west.
“We are worried that our members go as far as trying to stone a whole president. I am seeing a lot of anti-party playing out here in the south west and it is not going to be in our interest.
“But the bulk stops on the table of Governor Amosun, because he ought to manage that situation better being the chief security officer of the state. He didn’t handle the issue very well.
“Whether you are a president or governor or holding any other position, the party is supreme, because the crisis was fallout of the primary.
"Governor Amosun must repent and change his ways, because South-west is important to APC in these coming elections," he said.
He commended Adams Oshiomhole, the national chairman of the APC, for his management of the party so far.
Legit.ng earlier reported that the APC alleged that Governor Ibikunle Amosun was responsible for sponsoring thugs to throw objects at President Muhammadu Buhari and other party chieftains at its campaign rally in Abeokuta, Ogun state.
According to a statement made available to Legit.ng, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, APC's spokesman, stated that the state governor will be punished after the general elections.
It also reported how Amosun recently revealed that there was a grand plan by the APC to rig the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the state, warning that such plot will fail.
He said this in reaction to the position he took by fielding his preferred candidate, Hon Adekunle Akinlade on the platform of a different political party, the Allied People's Movement (APM) in protest against his own party, the APC which he accused of rigging the gubernatorial primary election.
