2019: Alaafin cautions PDP governorship candidate Makinde over inflammatory statement

- Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, the Alaafin of Oyo, has cautioned the PDP governorship candidate in the state over inflammatory statement

- The monarch who received Seyi Makinde at his palace said unguarded statement could jeopardise his governorship ambition

- Makinde said he was in Alaafin's palace to seek the royal blessing ahead of the gubernatorial election slated for March 2

The Alaafin of Oyo and chairman of Oyo state council of traditional rulers, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, has cautioned the gubernatorial candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Seyi Makinde, to stop making statements capable of causing violence and lawlessness in the state.

Legit.ng regional reporter in Oyo, Imaran Khalid, reports that the monarch urged Makinde to embark on strategies to unfold his plans, blueprints and manifestoes to the people of Oyo state.

The monarch made the statement while Makinde paid homage to his palace in continuation of his campaign, adding that unguarded statement could jeopardise the sustained peace and harmony in the state.

Alaafin, however, described Makinde as a nice, gentle and cool-headed man whose priorities of electioneering campaign should be centred on issue based discussions with the people of the state and most importantly the eligible voters.

In his reactions, Makinde appreciated Oba Adeyemi for showing unalloyed support and rendering fatherly advice for in his quest to actualise his gubernatorial ambition, adding that the monarch is not only a king but also an important figure and father whose pieces of admonition must not be taken for granted.

He said he was in the palace to intimate the paramount ruler with his intention of vying for the governorship seat of Oyo state under the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and to seek the royal blessing ahead of the gubernatorial election slated for March 2.

Makinde said the governance would be run in such a way that the people of the state would feel and enjoy better standard of living across the nooks and crannies of the sate if he becomes the governor.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that the Oyo PDP gubernatorial candidate for 2019 general elections described the current administration led by Senator Abiola Ajimobi as nothing but total failure in education sector.

It was reported that while featuring on Lagelu FM, 96.7, on Saturday, December 22, Makinde said that Ajimobi has set a bad precedence in the education sector in the sate since he assumed office in 2011.
