- Onochie describes Uduaghan as a mole in the APC

The senatorial ambition of the former governor of Delta state, Emmanuel Uduaghan, on the platform of the All progressives Congress (APC) has reportedly hit the rocks as a court is said to have sacked him as the party’s candidate ahead of the election.

The sack of Uduaghan was, however, celebrated by Lauretta Onochie, a social media aide to President Muhammadu Buhari, who called the former governor a mole in the APC.

Uduaghan had defected to the APC from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) under which he governed Delta state for eight years.

Onochie posted on her social media wall: “Court declares the nomination of Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan, ex-governor of Delta state, and a mole in APC, a nullity in the suit filed by AVM Terry Okorodudu.

“Court orders APC to conduct fresh primaries for Delta South senatorial district to be monitored by INEC. Days of imposition are over. Justice is being served,” she said adding: “One down....”

Legit.ng earlier reported that Emmanuel Uduaghan, the immediate past governor of Delta state, accused his successor, Ifeanyi Okowa, of being vindictive and working to destroy his legacy.

In a statement released by his media aide, Monoyo Edon, on Monday, September 3, the former governor warned Deltans against re-electing Okowa for a second term in 2019.

According to Edon, Uduaghan, made the comments while addressing a crowd of his supporters at Olomoro, Isoko south local government area of the state.

It was gathered that the former governor stated that he wanted to liberate Deltans from the Okowa-led Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) administration in the state, and that was why he defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

After Uduaghan's defection, the PDP had expressed optimism that it will do a critical “soul-searching” on his recent defection to the APC.

The PDP made this known in a statement through its publicity secretary, Ifeanyi Michael Osuoza. Osuoza said the Uduaguan's exit from the PDP was 'sad', but the party remains "strong and indivisible."

The statement read: “Although, it is sad that he has decided to join a new political family, we appreciate the fact that he has his right to freedom of association, but we believe that in no distant future, he will do some soul-searching and come back to his original political family."
