Maurizio Sarri has revealed he did not deliberately snub Pep Guardiola’s post-match handshake after Manchester City thrashed Chelsea 6-0 in Sunday’s Premier League clash at the Etihad.

According to Metro, at the blast of the final whistle the Italian tactician walked past Guardiola without minding the Spaniards hand and headed to the tunnel, leaving assistant manager Gianfranco Zola to calm down the City boss.

However, Sarri insists he headed straight for the dressing room after woeful performance by the team and did not see Guardiola’s outstretched hand.

“I didn’t see him at the time but I will go to say hello to him later, as usual,” Sarri was quoted as saying during his post-match press conference.

“I wanted to go to the dressing room and in the moment I didn’t see him. I have no problem with him.”

Reacting on the incident, Guardiola insists he had no grouse with Italian after his snubbing his handshake as he made his way to tunnel, even as he was sympathetic with Sarri’s task of transforming Chelsea’s playing style.

“I just spoke with Zola, Sarri didn’t see me,” he noted.

“I have a great relationship with him, no problem,” Guardiola summed up.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Manchester City thrashed Chelsea, 6-0 at Etihad Stadium on Sunday, February 10.

This was City's third test in their push to reclaim the EPL title after an arguably gruelling week that saw them battle Arsenal last weekend and Everton in midweek.

Both encounters saw the Pep Guardiola-tutored side pick maximum points as they leapfrogged Liverpool into the first place on the standings.
