The presidential candidate of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has revealed that his journey to seeking to govern Nigeria was anointed in 1993 by the late Shehu Musa Yar’Adua.

Speaking in Katsina state, the base of President Muhammadu Buhari, Atiku, pleaded with the people to elect him as the next president so as to achieve the dream of late Yar’Adua.

Vanguard reports that Atiku anointed him in 1993, but that he could not fulfill this dream before his death.

Atiku urged the people to help the late Yar’Adua achieve this dream by voting for him.

“I was introduced into politics by late Shehu Musa Yar’Adua of blessed memory and I grew up in politics in Katsina.

“Later, late Shehu anointed me as the presidential candidate in 1993.

“Today, it is time to fulfill the dream of late Shehu Musa Yar’Adua. Would you help Shehu achieve his unfulfilled dream?”

“The APC, three and half years ago, came here to promise you that they will restore the economy, improve security and unemployment, but they have failed.

“I am assuring you that if elected, we would restore the security, address the issue of unemployment and by the time that is done, we must have addressed hunger in the country.

“We would closely work with Lado (Katsina governorship candidate) to achieve this together in the state level,” Atiku stated.

Legit.ng earlier reported that the wife of the president, Aisha Buhari, solicited support for the re-election of Muhammadu Buhari in the forthcoming election.

Buhari made the appeal on Thursday, February 7, when she led members of All Progressives Congress (APC) women and youths presidential campaign team to the palace of some traditional rulers in Abuja. She was represented by the senior special assistant to the president on administration, Hajo Sani.
