Just in: Southwest Muslim group endorse Buhari

- The Trust Alliance Foundation for Change (TAFC), a Muslim group in the southwest, has endorsed President Buhari

- According to the group, its decision was based on the level of integrity and achievement in the fight against corruption by Buhari's government

- Going further, the group urged Nigerians, to ensure that President Buhari is re-elected during this month’s presidential polls

The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming general election, President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has been endorsed by the Trust Alliance Foundation for Change (TAFC), a Muslim group in the southwest.

According to the group, President Buhari's endorsement was as a result of the policy and ethics of his administration, The Nation reports.

This was disclosed by the group's coordinator, Dr Morufu Afolabi, at a news conference on Wednesday, February 6, in Akure, the Ondo state.

He said: “We base our decision to work and vote for the success of Buhari/Osinbajo in the forthcoming presidential election on the level of integrity and achievement in the fight against corruption, infrastructure development.

“We are convinced that the expected modern Nigeria is achievable if we have the like of Buhari as governors and chairmen in all the 36 states and 774 LGAs in the federation."

Going further, he urged Nigerians, to ensure that President Buhari is re-elected during this month’s presidential polls.

”Nigerians should look beyond Buhari/Osinbajo winning the 2019 Presidential Election and be more concerned about how to get similar credible candidates who will take over from them after expiration of their term in 2023," he added.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that there are indications that the alleged plans by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to break the ranks of southeast governors belonging to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) may have derailed.

The governors have been severally alleged to have struck a deal to enable President Buhari get at least 25 per cent of the votes in their states in 'quid pro quo' for their own easy re-election.
