304,852 uncollected PVCs in Kwara - lNEC reveals

- INEC, Kwara state chapter, has revealed the number of Permanent Voter's Cards yet to be collected in the state

- The commission said that 304,852 PVCs are yet to be collected out of the 1.4 million registered voters

- The electoral body also said it is doing everything to make sure all PVCs are collected before the set deadline for collection

The Independent National Electoral Commission (lNEC) has said that 304,852 registered voters are yet to claim their Permanent Voters’s Cards (PVCs) in Kwara state few days to the general election.

INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in the state, Attaihiru Madami, disclosed this in Ilorin on Monday, February 4, during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

Madami said the unclaimed PVCs were part of the 1.4 million printed for voters registered during the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) across the 16 local government areas of the state. He said INEC was doing everything possible to ensure that the PVCs were collected on or before the Friday, February 8, deadline for their collections.

In his words: “The commission is doing everything possible to make sure that at least 255,000 of the PVCs are collected on or before the February 8, deadline. The remaining unclaimed PVCs will be kept in safe custody the commission thereafter."

He thanked the media for its numerous support to INEC but cautioned journalist against announcing unofficial results.

He said: “Journalists must be reminded that only INEC has the authority to announce election results."

NAN reported that Madami also visited some worship centres in the state to sensitise the electorate on the need to collect their PVCs.

Recall that Legit.ng earlier reported that INEC on Saturday, February 2, said 66.4% of the PVCs available for distribution were collected in Gombe state.

Umar Ibrahim, the REC in the state said that 186,136 PVCs out of the 280,508 received by the commission had been collected by their owners.
