Breaking: APC members, former Bayelsa governor rock Yenagoa with protest

- Some members of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Bayelsa, staged a peaceful protest on Monday, February 4

The All Progressive Congress (APC) on Monday, February 4, staged a peaceful protest in Yenagoa demanding the arrest of suspected thugs that killed one of its supporter and injured 15 persons at Tungbobiri in Sagbama local government area of Bayelsa, The Sun reports.

Led by chieftains of the party, the protesters included Timipre Sylva, the former governor of Bayelsa and Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, the minister of state for agriculture and rural development.

They alleged that the police provided protection for the thugs said to belong to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to strike havoc and terror on their members.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that the APC on Friday in Makurdi, alleged that hoodlums attacked and disrupted its campaign rally in Gbajimba, the headquarters of Guma local government area, which is also Governor Samuel Ortom’s home base.

The party is currently conducting its governorship campaigns across the 23 local government areas to shore up support for its candidates in the 2019 polls. Addressing journalists in Makurdi, Prof. Eugene Aliegba, a member of the Emmanuel Jime/Sam Ode campaign organisation, alleged that the hoodlums fired gunshots at the crowd before they were chased away.
