ICE takes 21 Savage into custody, alleging the rapper is a UK national who overstayed his visa

- American rapper, 21 Savage, is currently in trouble with the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement for allegedly overstaying in the US

- According to ICE, the rapper is actually a UK national who came into the US as a teen and remained in the country even after his visa expired

- Reports reveal that the rapper is in ICE custody in Georgia and has been placed into removal proceedings before the federal immigration courts

Social media has been thrown into a frenzy after popular Atlanta rapper, 21 Savage, was arrested for "overstaying" in the US. What remains a shocker is that while everyone believed the rapper to be a citizen of the country, the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has stated otherwise.

21 Savage whose given name is Sha Yaa Bin Abraham-Joseph, was arrested at a traffic stop in Atlanta, along with three other people during which ICE discovered his immigration status. He was taken into custody by ICE who allege that the Atlanta rapper is a United Kingdom national who stayed in the US after his visa lapsed.

According to an ICE spokesperson who spoke with CNN: “His whole public persona is false. He actually came to the U.S. from the U.K. as a teen and overstayed his visa.”

Reports reveal that the rapper had received a one-year visa in July, 2005. If the timeline stated by immigration is correct, 21 Savage would have been 12 when he arrived in the United States.
