La Liga table: Barcelona go 6 points clear after week 22 games

Barcelona are still topping the Spanish La Liga standings after week 22 games played over the weekend in which the Catalans were forced to a 2-2 draw at home by Valencia.

Argentine football star Lionel Messi saved Barcelona from an home defeat after the team went two goals down. Messi scored in the 39th and 64th minutes respectively to salvage a point for the club.

So far this season in the Spanish La Liga, Barcelona have won 15 games, drawn 5, lost 2 and they have 50 points.

Despite losing their own game 1-0 against Real Betis on Sunday, February 3, Atletico Madrid are still maintaining their second position on the Spanish La Liga table.

But they are now six points behind leaders Barcelona as they currently have 44 points and have also lost two games this season with 12 wins.

Real Madrid did themselves a lot of good on Sunday as they defeated Deportivo Alaves 3-0 at the Santiago Bernabeu to stay third on the standings and two points behind Atletico Madrid.

Los Blancos have now won 13 games this season in La Liga, drew 3, lost 6 and have 42 points.

Villarreal were 2-0 up against Espanyol and came close to ending their victory drought, but two goals in the last 15 minutes saw Espanyol secure a point and extend the Yellow Submarine's win-less streak to nine games.
