The Economic and Financial Crimes (EFCC) has arrested 13 suspected internet fraudsters in Enugu.
According to Ahmed Imam Usman, the zonal head of the southeast chapter of the commission, while three of the suspects were arrested on Thursday, January 17, in Anambra through intelligence reports, 10 of them were arrested in Enugu.
The EFCC zonal head revealed that Items recovered from them include nine exotic cars ranging from Toyota Avenza, Lexus Jeep, Toyota Hilux, Toyota avalon, Mercedes Benz, laptops, printers, cameras, phones, expensive drinks among other exhibits.
Usman, speaking at a press conference in the state said: “We have resolved as part of carrying out the commission’s mandate to stamp out internet scams, advance fee fraud and other related crimes and help in rebuilding the image of the country.
“Apart from public corruption which affects us locally, and denies us access to basic social amenities, Nigerians are treated badly because of the activities of cyber criminals and this gives us a bad name internationally. We are determined to stamp that out.”
He further said that charges against the suspects have been filed in court with arraignment to follow suit soon.
Moreover, the EFCC on Friday, February 1, arrested six suspected internet fraudsters at their hotel hideout in Rumuigbo, Port Harcourt, Rivers state.
The suspects, Oghenekewe Innocent Akinnawo, Kemka Godseat Amadi, Revelation Macaulay, Damilola Adedoyin Oyinloye, Mary Ndubuisi and Jennifer Vandi, were arrested with the help of intelligence reports with associated them with love scam on numerous dating sites and other criminal activities.
Items recovered from them include three exotic cars: Benz- E350-4Matic; Toyota Camry XLE and Benz- GLE 450, four iPhones, four laptops; one iPad, one iron sealed stamp; cheque books, car number plates and two unused bullets.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that the southeast zonal office of the EFCC had arrested three suspected internet fraudsters in Enugu. Legit.ng gathered that the head of public affairs of the commission in the zone, Chris Oluka, said this in a statement on Saturday, December 15, in Enugu.
Oluka said that the suspects, including the wife of them, were arrested in their homes at Independence Layout, Enugu, following intelligence reports.
