PDP finally reacts to Osinbajo's near-death helicopter crash

- The PDP has expressed concern over Vice President Yemi Osinbajo's miraculous escape in the February 2, helicopter crash

- The opposition party called for an investigation of the ugly incident that took place just when the general elections are near

- It urged all Nigerians to continue in their prayers for the safety of everyone, especially leaders in the country during this period

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed shock and concern over the crash of the helicopter conveying the vice president, Professor Yemi Osinbajo on Saturday, February 2, in Kabba, Kogi state.

Thanking God for the safety of Osinbajo in the deadly experience, the opposition party called for a thorough investigation of the accident which came just days to the presidential election.

In a statement by its national publicity secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, the PDP called on all Nigerians to keep praying for leaders in the country at all levels.

The statement read: "The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) expresses shock over the crash of the helicopter carrying Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, in Kabba, Kogi state, on Saturday.

"The PDP thanks God for the safety of Vice President Osinbajo, members of his entourage and the crew.

"The party however called for a thorough investigation into the traumatic incident adding that the safety of our leaders, and of course, all Nigerians, must be guaranteed, especially at this critical time.

"The PDP urges all Nigerians irrespective of creed, ethnicity and political affiliation, to continue to pray for God’s continued intervention in our national life."

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that the presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar, on Saturday, February 2, joined Nigerians in expressing happiness that Osinbajo survived a helicopter crash on his way to Kogi state.

Atiku, who posted his reaction on his social media handle, said: “Dear vice president, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, I just received news of the crash of your helicopter in Kabba, Kogi state. I am happy to note, however, that all is well with you and your delegation.”

Also, the president of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, expressed gratitude to God that the vice president survived the incident. "I join all Nigerians in thanking Almighty God for sparing the life of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, who survived a helicopter crash over Kabba, Kogi state today," he said.
