Why I defected to APC - Gombe PDP campaign DG

Bala Tinka, the director general of the Peoples Democratic Party’s campaign council in Gombe state, on Friday, February 1, disclosed why he defected to the All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2019 forthcoming general elections.

Tinka stated that his decision is to help President Muhammadu Buhari’s reelection bid for second term. He made this known in a phone interview with Daily Trust..

He said he will be formally accepted into the APC by President Buhari and other leaders of the party in a grand rally to be held on Saturday, February 2.

Tinka point, as he is popularly known, had contested against the PDP’s Gubernatorial candidate in the state, Senator Usman Bayero Nafada. He was made the DG of the party’s campaign council.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported Bala Bello Tinka who is the director general of the PDP campaign organisation in Gombe state defected to the APC.

That was disclosed by the presidency in a statement by presidential spokesperson, Femi Adesina. Adesina claimed that Tinka (alias Tinka Point) met with President Muhammadu Buhari at state House, Abuja.

He added that Tinka pledged allegiance to the APC. “Coming exactly a fortnight to the presidential election, the defection of Alhaji Tinka deals a massive blow to the PDP in Gombe. PDP currently governs the state, and has done so since 2003.”

“President Muhammadu Buhari campaigns in Gombe and Alhaji Tinka is expected to formally join the APC, alongside others, during the event, he said.

In a related development, Mainasara Sajo, a former government house permanent secretary 10 local government chairmen with 3,510 other members of the APC in Suru local government in Kebbi state defected to the PDP.

Sajo who was once a permanent secretary for the state government during Saidu Dakingari term publicly made his defection known at a PDP campaign rally for the party’s governorship candidate, Isa Galaudu, on Thursday, January 31.
