Gary Cahill rejected a the chance to revive his playing career after turning down a move to leave Chelsea in the January transfer window, reports say.
The 33-year-old old central defender is still the Blues captain but Spanish star Cesar Azpilicueta has been the regular skipper with Cahill making just only seven appearances this season.
According to Sky Sports, the former England international was given a lifeline by Fulham, Juventus and Monaco.
But the ex-Bolton center-back who has won two Premier League titles, FA Cups, as well as a Champions League and Europa League trophy with the Stamford Bridge outfit decide to stay.
London based club Fulham had agreed terms with the defender but Cahill made a U-turn on his decision.
It is understood that a permanent deal for the Englishman was agreed but the Craven Cottage side failed to meet up with personal terms.

Cahill's only appearance in the Premier League this season was against West Ham last September and he was replaced by Antonio Rudiger after just 21 minutes.
He has also played in two Chelsea's Europa League matches and their last five domestic cup games including the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup.
Maurizio Sarri has preferred David Luiz and Rudiger pairing in the center-half in addition with 22-year-old Andreas Christensen who has just played 13 matches.
However, Cahill made 43 appearances in all competitions under former boss Antonio Conte last season as part of his 4-3-3 formation.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Gonzalo Higuain has been a subject of abuse on the social media after his replacement at AC Milan Krzysztof Piatek scored two goals in his debut.
The Poland international scored a brace in the Rossoneri's 2-0 victory over Napoli in the Coppa Italia at the San Siro.
