Nigeria community in South Africa at peace again as serial killer is killed

- The Nigerian community in South Africa is at peace again after an alleged serial murderer, Onuchukwu Ekemezie Chuks, was killed

- The murderer was reportedly eliminated by unknown gunmen in Sunnyside, Pretoria

- A source revealed that he was shot two weeks ago after several failed attempts to prosecute him

The Nigerian community in South Africa has said they are relieved with the alleged killing of a notorious murderer and cultist, Onuchukwu Ekemezie Chuks.

A member of the community who pleaded anonymity told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on the telephone from Pretoria, South Africa, that Chuks, a native of Oraifite, Anambra state, was fatally shot by unknown gunmen in Sunnyside area of Pretoria South.

The members said: “Chuks was a terror to Nigerians and non-Nigerians in South Africa, especially in Pretoria area. He has allegedly killed many Nigerians and non-Nigerians. The most recent victim is one Junior Emeka, a jeweller in Pretoria."

The source said that Chuks went to Junior’s shop in Sunnyside and shot him dead in December 2018 and that after the incident, Nigerians in the area reported to the police.

The source said: “When Chuks was trying to escape, the police shot him on the leg and arrested him. He was arraigned for murder and possession of unlicensed firearm two days after his arrest. It was also alleged that his friends used powerful connections to bring him out before the next court date."

According to the source, on gaining freedom, Chuks became furious and started terrorising Nigerians and non-Nigerians again.

“He was fatally shot two weeks ago in Sunnyside. There are rumours that a rival group or law enforcement agents shot him. His death is a relief to the community, especially in Sunnyside, Pretoria,’’ the source said.

Recall that Legit.ng earlier reported that as xenophobia on Sunday, October 21, 2018 reared its ugly head again in South Africa, Nigerians lost more than nine shops to arsonists in Hillbrow, central Johannesburg.

The publicity secretary of Nigerian Union in South Africa, Habib Miller said South Africans allegedly committed the act.
