PDP reacts to criticism trailing Ohanaeze's endorsement of Atiku

- The PDP said those criticising Atiku's endorsement lacked political courage

- According to the party, Chief Nnia Nwodo-led Ohanaeze Ndigbo had not erred for making the decision

- The party also disclosed that plans have been perfected to welcome Atiku and Obi to Onitsha, in Anambra state

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reacted to the the criticism trailing the endorsement of its presidential candidate for the February 19 election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, by Igbo social political group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo.

The chairman of Atiku/Obi campaign council for the presidential election in Anambra state, Oseloka Obaze, at a media parley ahead of PDP campaign rally in Onitsha, chided those who kicked against the endorsement, The Sun reports.

Legit.ng gathers that worried Obaze said the critics lacked political courage, adding that Chief Nnia Nwodo-led Ohanaeze had not erred for making the decision ahead of the crucial general election.

The PDP chieftain said: "Ohanaeze was not set up by governors and is not answerable to them, there is no conflict anywhere but it will be awkward for any governor to think that the stipend he gives to run the organsiation can make him try to lord it over them.

"Those crucifying Nwodo lack courage; he is an educated, well informed, two-time federal minister, an elder statesman and not in search of recognition.

“The Ime-Obi, the policy making arm of Ohanaeze endorsed the PDP ticket for what it stands for including restructuring, national unity and better protection of interest of the people it represents."

Obaze also expressed assurance over the anticipated coming of Atiku to the state for campaign. He said plans have been perfected for the PDP's presidential candidate to meet top leaders from politics to religion.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that the Anambra government said its rejection of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo’s endorsement of Alhaji Abubakar Atiku had nothing to do with politics or Peter Obi.

It said that the clarification was necessitated by the story making round the media and instigated by the group that the state rejected the endorsement of Atiku, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, because of his running mate, Obi.
