Michael Carrick has revealed that the lessons he was taught by former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has been helping him at the club.
Carrick explained that Ferguson's curation and effort of a winning mentality when he was in charge at Manchester United has helped his coaching career.
The 37-year-old Englishman served under Sir Alex Ferguson for seven seasons and hopes to replicate the success of his former boss at Old Trafford.
Last season, Michael Carrick was given a coaching role under ex United gaffer Jose Mourinho, and has also been retained to serve under interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Carrick played for Manchester United for 12 seasons before he hanged his boots, and he has now made it clear that the legacy of Alex Ferguson is what he will follow.
"I learned so many things during his time as manager and the most valuable thing was probably how to grow a winning mentality.
''Then win again and again with that amazing drive of his. He had incredible desire and that became the culture of the football club.
"He taught me how to be mentally strong, never to settle for anything less than you think you can achieve, and to always strive to be the very best.
"Since becoming a coach at United I’ve tried to take inspiration from him, so hopefully he has rubbed off on me. I probably do a few things in training that I picked up from him but don’t realize,'' Carrick told FourFourTwo.
Carrick and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer have been superb for Manchester United since the departure of Jose Mourinho as the club currently occupy sixth position on the EPL table with 45 points.
Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Manchester United legend Michael Carrick revealed how his mega move to Arsenal in 2004 was blocked by Spanish football star Cesc Fabregas who now plays for Monaco.
Carrick was playing for West Ham United then and he was a target for Frenchman Arsene Wenger who was ready to bring him to the North London club.
But Cesc Fabregas' superb display for Arsenal in the Community Shield against Manchester United that year made Michael Carrick's move to the Gunners to collapse.
