Emerging reports have claimed that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will on Thursday, January 31, release the final list of candidates for governorship, state assembly and FCT area council elections scheduled for March 2.
According to Daily Trust, Mahmood Yakubu, national chairman of the commission, made this known on Wednesday, January 30.
Yakubu said the list will be published in all the state offices of INEC across the country and the commission’s website.
He also disclosed that the commission had implemented ten out of the fourteen activities outlined in its scheduled programmes of activities for the 2019 elections.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that few months to election, the Independent National Electoral Commission on Wednesday, January 2, circulated information about the forthcoming 2019 general elections at its various offices across the country.
INEC is expected to carry out ‘Publication of Notice of Polls' for all elections not later than 14 days before the election, as stipulated in Section 46 of the Electoral Act, 2010 (as amended).
The commission pasted the ‘Notice of Poll’ at its head office in accordance with the provision of the law.
In a related development, INEC released the regulations and guidelines for the conduct of the general elections.
A 33 pages document obtained by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Monday, January 14, said Smart Card Readers (SCRs) and Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) would be used for the forthcoming elections.

It was gathered that the document revealed that no person shall be allowed to vote at any polling unit/voting point settlement/voting point other than the one at which his/her name appears in the register of voters.
