Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna state has reportedly promised that if re-elected for a second term in the forthcoming elections he will ensure that all the local government areas in the state will have tertiary institutions.
Leadership reports that El-Rufai made this promise at Soba town, headquarters of Soba local government at a stakeholders’ meeting on Wednesday, January 30.
Legit.ng gathers that the Kaduna state governor also promised to site a campus of Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic in Soba town.
He further urged the people of Soba area council to embrace western education in order to fill their quota in the civil service, noting that there is no permanent secretary from the local government at the moment.
El-Rufai admonished the people on the importance of education, saying there is nothing anyone can do in without education.
He said: “We have repaired most primary schools in Kaduna state, employed qualified teachers. Education is free from primary to Junior Secondary School. And it is free for girls up to senior secondary school.”
Speaking on the forthcoming polls, El-Rufai expressed optimism that the election will be peaceful as the National Security Adviser, retired General Babagana Monguno has instituted an elaborate security arrangement to facilitate a hitch-free exercise.
He warned youths to desist from carrying arms and engaging in violence on Election Day because the security men have been ordered to arrest anyone who bears arms and cause violence on that day.
His words: “I want you to warn your children to be orderly on Election Day. The security agents have specific orders to arrest any trouble maker or anyone who carries weapons on Election Day. And anyone who attempts to snatch ballot box will be shot. So, as leaders, we are duty-bound to tell you of this arrangement.”
