President Muhammadu Buhari and the presidential candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, are expected to attend the forthcoming annual Islamic convention of the Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa’ikamatis Sunnah.
The development was made public in a statement released by the organisation's publicity secretary, Ahmad Muhammad Ashiru, who disclosed that the event will take place at the Old Parade Ground, Abuja, on Sunday, February 3, Daily Trust reports.
Legit.ng gathers that an educational appeal fund of N250m for the purchase of educational materials, ICT, office equipment and operational vehicles will also be launched during the event.
Other dignitaries including governors, ministers, senators, House of Representative members, business moguls and other prominent politicians are also expected to attend the event.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that President Muhammadu Buhari and Alhaji Atiku Abubakar both failed to participate in the 2019 presidential debate organised by the Nigerian Election Debate Group (NEDG) and the Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria (BON).
The debate was scheduled to feature five presidential candidates; the candidates of the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN), Alliance for New Nigeria (ANN), All Progressives Congress (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Young Progressives Party (YPP).
