- Babajide Sanwo-Olu has said the governorship candidate of the PDP Jimi Agbaje lacked the will and drive to govern Lagos state
- In a live interview, the APC governorship candidate said, the freedom tag, which Agbaje has trademarked his campaign, has been enjoyed over the decades by the people of the state
- According to Sanwo-Olu, he is committed to running an all-inclusive government if elected in the coming election
With few days to the 2019 general elections in the country, the All Progressive Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate , Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has berated his close challenger, the Peoples democratic Party (PDP)'s Jimi Agbaje.
Responding to questions during an interview on a radio show on Tuesday, January 29, in Lagos, the APC candidate dragged Agbaje's political competence to question, The Nation reports.
He added that the PDP flag bearer lacked the intellectual capacity and master plan to drive the state to its shore.
Legit.ng learns that Sanwo-Olu, who was reacting to Agbaje's campaign themed Freedom for Lagos, also stressed the need for the Lagosians not to take his challengers serious.
According to him, the freedom tag, which Agbaje has trademarked his campaign, has been enjoyed over the decades by the people of the state. He also noted that the structure of the state politics, economy and infrastructure was built on freedom since 1999, hence wondering where Agbaje's freedom was coming from.
He said: “This fellow (Jimi Agbaje) doesn’t just have anything to offer Lagosians. So, the only thing he could think of putting on the table is freedom. Freedom from what? Are we in bondage in Lagos?
“Do you think it is by magic that Lagos state assumed the enviable position as the fifth largest economy in Africa? No. People worked hard to get the state to this level and they continue to work harder for the state to surpass its current feat. What freedom is anyone talking to us about?”
The APC candidate, however, reinstated his commitment to run an all-inclusive government, adding that his government will tackle waste and traffic gridlock.

He said: “We plan to run an inclusive government, where every stakeholder will have a voice. We intend to listen to every citizen as part of our decision making process; a Lagos where everyone will have a sense of belonging.
''We must start waste sorting from our various kitchens at home. We will be heavy with advocacy on the use of yellow, blue and black bags for organic, plastics, bottles and domestic waste items. This approach will help with pick-ups. This will automatically help in our drive towards waste to wealth."
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that Jimi Agbaje had attacked Babajide Sanwo-Olu, in what seemed to be a media war with less than a month to the 2019 general elections.
Agbaje, in a statement by his media aide, Felix Oboagwina, described the promises of the APC candidate as spurious lies flying in the face of facts.
