- Despite facing embarrassment from APC, Ugwumba Uche Nwosu congratulates President Buhari for successfully campaigning in Imo
- Nwosu also commends Governor Rochas Okorocha for organising the campaign rally for the president
- The governorship candidate in Imo promises one million votes to Buhari ahead of the presidential election
Ugwumba Uche Nwosu, the son-in-law to Governor Rochas Okorocha and current candidate of the Action Alliance (AA), has congratulated Muhammadu Buhari for the successful rally held in Imo state ahead of the presidential election.
Uche also commended Okorocha for successfully organising the event where the president campaigned.
The commendation came hours after a drama that played out at the APC presidential rally in the state in which Adams Oshiomhole, the national chairman of the ruling party, told the crowd that there was no alliance with AA.
Oshiomhole reportedly told the people that the APC has only one governorship candidate, Hope Uzodinma.
However, President Buhari, while addressing the crowd, told them to vote for whoever they wanted as governor.
In his commendation, Nwosu described the rally as the best organised and most attended in the entire south east.
“Our dear president deserves every bit of support he gets from Imolites and I am sure he is happy with the solidarity he received from us during his visit to the state.
"We also thank the president for using the opportunity of this visit to openly dissociate himself from the unfair actions and utterances of some people within the APC.
“Even though we are not surprised because the president only kept true to his nature as an icon of integrity and a model for justice who abhors injustice and corruption in any shade they may come, the president has further strengthened the faith of our supporters."
"We thank our dear governor and the builder of a brand new Imo state, His Excellency Owelle Rochas Okorocha, who is also the coordinator of President Buhari's re-election campaign in Imo state for organising what is clearly the best presidential campaign rally in the south eastern part of Nigeria.
“Most importantly, we thank Imolites, especially our loyal supporters from across party lines for defying the rain, the stress and even the threats to turn out enmasse in solidarity with our president. We took note of your sacrifices and we will not take your support for granted,” he said in a statement made available by the spokesperson of his campaign organisation, Onwuasoanya FCC Jones.

The governorship candidate reassured Muhammadu Buhari that the ‘one million votes cheque’ he presented to the president during his governorship campaign flag-off is intact.
He also promised to mobilise Imo voters across all political Parties to ensure a continuity of a new Nigeria rid of corruption.
Legit.ng earlier reported that the All Progressives Congress (APC) earlier warned Uche Nwosu not to come close to its campaign rally as there is no arrangement with the duo.
The APC said this just as the Action Alliance said it was endorsing President Muhammadu Buhari ahead of Atiku Abubakar, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the February 16, 2019, election.
