After Ohaneze’s endorsement of Atiku, Afenifere makes decision

- A faction of Afenifere has endorsed President Muhammadu Buhari for second term

- The Yoruba group said the president has done well to deserve reelection

- Afenifere applauded President Buhari's anti-corruption stance

A faction of the Yoruba socio-cultural group, Afenifere, has endorsed Muhammadu Buhari and Yemi Osinbajo for a second term.

This is coming a few days after the Ohaneze Ndigbo endorsed Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party for presidency.

Premium Times reports that the Afenifere's endorsement came at a meeting in Ibadan, Oyo state on Tuesday, January 29.

The Yoruba group led by Ayo Fasanmi said it endorsed Buhari because he has done well.

At the event were Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Fasanmi, the deputy governor of Lagos and Osun states, Idiat Adebule and Yetunde Onanuga, and a former minister, Demola Seriki, who represented ex-Lagos state governor, Bola Tinubu.

Some of the traditional rulers at the event were the Ewi of Ado Ekiti, Rufus Adedejuyigbe; Akirun of Ikirun, Abioye Oyebode and Oniye of Iye Ekiti, Adeleye Oni.

The motion for the endorsement of Buhari and Osinbajo, was moved by a former senator, Olabiyi Durojaye, at the event.

Five other leaders of the Afenifere faction who supported the endorsement were Tajudeen Olusi (Lagos), Bayonile Ademodi (Ondo), Yemi Alade (Ekiti), S. M. Akindele (Oyo), and Sooko Adewoyin (Osun).

Fasanmi said: “I want all of you to work and vote for Buhari who has performed very credibly and I think he deserves a second term in the office.

“He is the only candidate that is campaigning about corrupt free society. I am pleased that all the South-west are under the APC fold."

Meanwhile, earlier reported that former Abia governor, Chief Orji Kalu, berated the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohaneze Ndigbo, for endorsing the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party Abubakar Atiku.

Kalu expressed his disappointment with the group on Sunday, January 28, in an interview with newsmen in his Camp Neya country home in Igbere, Bende local government area of the state. ( -> We have upgraded to serve you better.
