- The NBA Jigawa said it will not embark on any strike or boycott of court proceedings
- According to the chapter, the warring parties to seek redress through legal means instead of embarking on court-boycott
The Jigawa state chapter of Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has vowed that its members will not follow its national body's directives mandating members to boycott court in protest against the suspension of the embattled chief justice of Nigeria, Walter Onnoghen.
Speaking on the the decision, the Jigawa NBA chairman, Bashir Usma, noted that the unfortunate development is a trial period for the legal profession in the country, Daily Trust reports.
Legit.ng gathers that Usman, however, urged the warring factions and party to settle their differences through legal means, adding that the strike action is necessary.
He said: “The Nigerian Bar Association, Dutse branch, will not embark on any strike or boycott of court proceedings.
“The branch expresses its deep concern over the suspension of the chief justice of Nigeria. It is a trial time for the legal profession in Nigeria.
“Therefore, we called on the warring parties to seek redress through legal means by appealing against the order of the tribunal for the suspension of the CJN, instead of embarking on court-boycott that would be detrimental to the parties."
