- The Action Alliance (AA) declares support for President Muhammadu Buhari weeks to the presidential election
- The AA earlier declared support for Atiku Abubakar, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)
- Kenneth Udeze, the national chairman of AA, says the party will win Imo for Uche Nwosu and support Buhari for 2019
The Action Alliance (AA) has re-emphasised that it has finally settled for President Muhammadu Buhari ahead of the February 16, 2019, presidential election thus leaving its earlier endorsement of Atiku Abubakar, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Vanguard reports that the declaration of the AA for Buhari, who is the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was made by Kenneth Udeze, the party’s national chairman.
It was learnt that Udeze said this when he joined the governorship candidate of the party in Imo state, Uche Nwosu, during the flag-off of the latter’s campaign.
The report earlier quoted Udeze as supporting Atiku Abubakar before his sudden change of endorsement.
The national chairman promised that AA would win the election in Imo state while supporting President Buhari for the presidential election.
Udeze, who presented the party’s flag to Nasiru Buhari, the representative of the president, declared: “We are ready to take over Imo state and also give President Buhari a landslide victory.
“We adopted President Buhari because he is a trustworthy leader who means well for the country.”
Also speaking at the flag-off, Nwosu said: “I am sure of victory because of the support of the masses and I will be youngest governor in Nigeria by May 29.
“I am running with those who are old enough to be my father but my appeal to them is to leave the stage for the youths and take their deserved rest, while we harness the potentials of our youths to make our state great.”
Legit.ng earlier reported that the Action Alliance, on Monday, January 14, affirmed its support for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar in the forthcoming presidential election.
The report had quoted Udeze as stating this at a press conference at the party’s headquarters in Abuja.
“We are for Atiku/Obi leadership and we are glad to work with all believers of true federalism and efficient administration of governance at all levels to accomplish this as we approach the forthcoming elections.

“The National Executives Committee (NEC) of our party are on the same page concerning our support for Atiku, same with all our state chapters in this matter.
“We hereby restate out position through this medium that AA as a certified and active member of the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) have not for a moment reconsidered or wished to alter that position," he had said.
