Onnoghen: Nigeria is not a colony - Oshiomhole replies US, UK, EU

- APC national chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, has asked the United States, European Union and the United Kingdom not to interfere in the affairs of Nigeria

- Oshiomhole made the statement after foreign countries and organisations condemned the suspension of CJN Walter Onnoghen

The national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, has warned the governments of the United States, United Kingdom and the European Union observers, to not interfere in the internal affairs of Nigeria.

The APC leader's statement was a reaction to letters from the foreign countries and organisations condemning the suspension of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Walter Onnoghen.

Channels TV reports that Oshiomhole made the statement after the APC Senate caucus and the party’s senatorial candidates met with President Muhammadu Buhari.

He said: “Nigeria is not a colony. We will not accept any foreign interference in the internal affairs of Nigeria."

Recall that Legit.ng earlier reported that the federal government of Nigeria cautioned representatives of foreign countries and organisations resident in the country against interfering in Nigeria’s internal affairs.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs gave the warning in a statement signed by its spokesperson, George Edokpa, on Monday, January 28, in Abuja

The ministry expressed deep concern on statements made by the US Embassy, UK High Commission and European Union Election Observer Mission, regarding the suspension of the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Walter Onnoghen.

According to the ministry, the action demonstrated serious and unacceptable interference in the internal affairs of Nigeria.
