Ivan Rakitic becomes Chelsea's transfer target following arrival of De Jong

- Ivan Rakitic could be on his way out of the Camp Nou next summer

- Premier League side Chelsea are set to launch a summer bid for the midfielder

- The move could be made as a result of the signing of Frenkie De Jong

Ivan Rakitic has become the latest transfer target for Chelsea as the Premier League side have revealed summer plans to sign the midfielder.

According to Spanish news media outfit Sport, the Stamford Bridge outfit are keeping a close eye on the situation as Frenkie De Jong is set to join the star-studded Barca side in the summer.

The arrival of the Ajax midfielder could pave way for Rakitic who was instrumental to Croatia's journey to the World Cup final last summer.

Blues boss Maurizio Sarri is an admirer of the 30-year-old and he is willing to bring him to west London, though it may prove a hard nut crack.

Rakitic recently spoke about speculation regarding his future at the Camp Nou after the signing of De Jong touted as their long-term answer in midfield.

The Croatian admitted he is happy at the club and may not be looking to move, which could be sending signals to Chelsea that they will have to do a lot more.

"If I am here [at Barcelona], it's to play. If anything has to change, we will speak. I have a lot of confidence. I know what I can give. I know who I am," Rakitic said.

"I want to be here and, if I can renew, to be here for even more years. I am really happy here, everyone knows it, above all the president. I have nothing else to say.

"I am 30 and I am in the best moment of my career. I want to enjoy football and enjoy Barça."

Chelsea could also be facing a transfer ban from FIFA disciplinary committee amid their dealings with over 100 youth players from overseas.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported David Luiz has agreed a one-year extension in his current deal with Chelsea, according to reports in Brazil.

The 31-year-old's current £120,000-a-week deal expires in June and the Brazil international is free to speak to non-English clubs about a move in the summer.
