- Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has urged voters in Oyo to support President Muhammadu Buhari's re-election bid
- Osinbajo said that President Buhari has great plans of growth and development for APC states in the southwest zone
- He further said that the president's actions and policies are in line with Chief Obafemi Awolowo's ideology of transparency and integrity
Chief Oluwole Oke, the director of presidential campaign council, southwest zone and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo urged voters in Oyo and other states in the region to support President Muhammadu Buhari's reelection bid in the forthcoming poll.
Recounting the achievements of President Buhari, both bigwigs of the All Progressives Congress (APC) assured the electorate in the state that he will do much more if re-elected, Punch reports.
Speaking in Ogbomoso recently Osinbajo said that the road linking the city and the state will be completed, adding that a federal polytechnic would be built in the town.
Osinbajo said: “We currently have 500,000 people captured in N-Power but we will increase them to one million.”
On his part, Oke said: “Today our people are currently heading key ministries like the power, works and housing; communications, health and so on. The feat which brought the APC to power was led by our highly revered leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, and a host of other leaders in Yoruba land.
“We want to sustain these positions in the next level in a way that the gains recorded by the President too on the fight against corruption will not be reversible. Corruption is giving way to era of accountability, transparency and probity in governance.
“The struggle of the Yoruba has always been that those in government must be accountable and that was also what Abiola stood for, that those in government must be responsible to the masses. Mr President has honoured the late MKO Abiola by recognising his electoral victory and setting aside June 12 as Democracy Day.”
Oke further said that the president's policy of accountability and integrity mirror the legacy of Chief Obafemi Awolowo and the Yoruba ideology.
