- President Buhari's spokesperson, Femi Adesina, said many of the comments he has heard against the government are from the church
- According to Adesina, instead of criticising and judging those in government, they should be prayed for
Femi Adesina, the special adviser on media and publicity to President Muhammadu Buhari, has urged Christians to support and pray for the government instead of criticising and judging those in power.
Adesina, who spoke at a meeting organised by the Christian Press Association of Nigeria (CPAN) in Lagos state, said most of the criticisms and comments against the government are from the church, Daily Trust reports.
The presidential spokesperson also said the numbers of Christians in President Buhari's cabinet is equal to the number of Muslims.
He said: “How frequent do you pray for your leaders and how much support do you give them? Instead of criticising people in government and judging them, pray for them.”
“Before the minister of state for labour and employment, the late Ocholi, died, we had more Christians in the cabinet than Muslims and after his death, the number became equal. Unfortunately many of the comments I have heard against the government are from the church."
