Barcelona claimed their 15th victory of the season after beating 10-man Girona 2-0 at Estadi Montilivi on Sunday evening.
Nelson Semedo powered home a low and powerful shot from close range to hand the visitors the lead in the 10th minute of the game.
Five minutes after breaking the deadlock in the game, Philippe Coutinho was served a superb pass by Lionel Messi but the Brazilian failed to convert the glorious chance.
The Blaugrana once again through Messi came close to doubling their lead but the shot went a bit wide from the target.
Cristhian Stuani got a chance to level parity for Girona close to the end of the first half but unfortunately, his effort was unsuccessful.
As the referee sounded the final whistle to wrap up the first half of the meeting at the Estadi Montilivi.
Girona were reduced to ten men just six minutes into the second half as Bernardo Espinosa was sent off after receiving second yellow.

Once again in the game, Cristhian Stuani smashes in a shot on target but Ter Stegen was in the right place to save the ball from crossing the line into the net.
Lionel Messi finally found the back of the net with about 20 more minutes to go after converting a Jordi Alba's pass in the 68th minute to put the Catalans two goals up.
All other chances and efforts by both sides however were unable to find the back of the net as the Catalans ran off with maximum win after the match.
