- The 30-year-old's current deal with the Red Devils expires at the end of the ongoing season

- Mata has made 15 Premier League appearances this term scoring two and assisting two others

Juan Mata has reportedly emerged as top priority signing for La Liga giants Barcelona at the end of the season due to limited playing time at Manchester United.

The Spaniard made just nine starts from 15 Premier League appearances so far this campaign, scoring two and assisting two others in the process.

However, the former Chelsea attacker is not excited with the bench warming role at Old Trafford and will consider a move away from the club.

According to Goal, the Catalans have shown interests in signing Mata once his deal expires this summer.

Meanwhile, Barca will have to battle Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain for the signature of the 30-year-old midfielder.

Though, Man United are said to be negotiating new deal with the Spanish midfielder but nothing positive has been concluded yet.

The Red Devils are said to have triggered a one-year option in his current deal to keep him until July 2019, but interest from elsewhere could see his head somewhere else.

Mata currently earns £140,000-a-week according to Goal, but the Catalans will be excited to sign him on free transfer.

Barca have already signed Ajax's Frenkie de Jong this week for a fee around €75 million (£65m/$85m) but will arrive the club at the end of the season.

The club are still interested in signing PSG's Adrien Rabiot whose contract with the French side also expires in June 2019.

Legit.ng earlier reported that contract talks involving Manchester United and midfielder Juan Mata have stalled after latest round of talks.

The star midfielder will be out of contract with United at the end of the season but he is reluctant to pen a new deal with the Manchester outfit.

According to a report by Metro UK, Mata is not ready to commit his future at Old Trafford and will wait until January to make a final decision after assessing his options.
