When it comes to picking uniforms for parties, Nigerian ladies will never take the back seat. They have special talents in selecting the best fabric and colour for any kind of events. These include naming ceremonies, weddings, funerals, birthday parties and much more.

These uniforms are popularly known as, asoebi. Here, it is expected that every woman who gets invited for a particular party must step out in the asoebi which must have been chosen by the person having the event.

It is very important to note that asoebi come in different prices. It all depends on the financial status or strength of those buying the fabric. However, some go for as much as N100,000 while a middle class is expected to afford that which go as low as N15,000. These prices go well for anyone picking laces for their event.

Aside from lace fabrics, some people do make use of ankara. Obviously this is not as expensive as the lace but there are some of these fabrics that are very expensive. One can find an ankara that goes for N15,000 depending on the quality while there are those that go for N1,000. The difference is just the quality.

However, buying of these fabrics is one thing while making the dresses into a beautiful outfit is another. People pay their tailors as much as N60,000 to make a very lovely unique outfit for them while those who cannot afford such pay as low as N3,000 or less for their fabrics. It all depends on the tailor, the area and particularly the styles.

Going by the recent asoebi trends among Nigerian women, there are some styles that you will always find ladies rock on Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays when they go for events. Below are five asoebi styles ladies cannot get over:

1. Komole:

This style is one of the simplest outfits to make because it looks like the conventional iro and buba style but it has just being modernized. This style is usually sown in form of a blouse with a skirt and wrapper. The wrapper is sown together with the skirt but if you do not know, you will mistake it for a skirt with ribbon at the back.

It is mostly rocked by brides for their traditional wedding.

2. Cold-shoulder gowns:

The cold-shoulder dresses which is also known as off-shoulder is worn by women who love to flaunt their neckline. They want something that can show off their glowing skin. However, this style is usually not complete without a high-cut on one side of their thighs.

3. The mono-strap dresses:

Some ladies have a level of confidence when they step out in dresses showing one part of their shoulders. This particular type of dresses looks very nice on women who have the perfect curves.

4. Ball gowns:

Ball gowns can also be made with ankara or lace fabrics, it all depends on the tailor. This style often looks good on women who have straight legs. It could also be that these women do not like long dresses so they do not care how much the fabric is worth, all that matters is them being comfortable in their dress and at the party.

5. Ankara:

Ankara can be turned into any style. These days tailors find it easy to turn ankara fabrics into any kind of style. It is the most popular fabric used for parties in Nigeria.
