Following their confiscation at various entrances in Gwale local government area of Kano state, over 6,000 bottles of alcohol valued at over N1m have been destroyed by Kano state Hisbah.
The disclosure was made by the Hisbah commandant in the local government, Alhaji Bala Sabon-Sara, who said the alcoholic drinks were seized within one year, Daily Trust reports.
Legit.ng gathers that he said a court granted Hisbah permission to destroy the items. Sabon-Sara added: "We caught the contraband as it was being illegally transported into Gwale Local Government Area.
“We have over 6,000 bottles and sachets. We made sure of the place we choose for exercise because we need a place we can bury the item after burning."
Legit.ng previously reported that over one million bottles of beer confiscated from traders within the Kano metropolis would be destroyed by the Kano State Hisbah Board.
The board assistant commander on special duties, Nahabani Usman, made the confirmation on Saturday, December 15.
Nahabani said the action was in compliance with the board's penal code which prohibits drugs or any intoxicating substance.
