The Taraba state chapter of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said that it would hire donkeys and canoes to distribute election materials in areas with difficult terrains for the 2019 general elections.
Daily Trust reports that the head of voters education and publicity in the commission, Fabian Vwamhi, disclosed this in an interview in Jalingo.
Legit.ng gathered that he said Sardauna, Gashaka, Karim-Lamido, Ibbi and Yorro local government areas had difficult terrains and therefore donkeys, motorcycles and canoes would be used to distribute election materials.
Vwamhi further stated that 15,000 ad hoc staff were recruited by the commission for the 2019 general elections.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that the National Council of State on Tuesday, January 23, in Abuja expressed satisfaction with the level of preparations of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the conduct of the forthcoming general elections.
Akeredolu said that the endorsement of the INEC's preparedness for the election followed a presentation made by the chairman of the commission, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, at the meeting of the council.
He emphasised that the council was convinced on the level of preparedness of the electoral body. According to him, the chairman also informed the council that the commission had embarked on training and retraining of staff for the successful conduct of the election.
