Cardiff City's most recent signing Emiliano Sala, is said to have been on board the plane that vanished over the English Channel on Monday, December 22.
Sala signed for Cardiff City from FC Nantes on Saturday, January 19, and was on his way to bolster Neil Warnocks squad in England's topflight when the plane was reported missing.
ITV News reported the development after speaking to French journalist Arnaud Wajdzik, who said that French police and Nantes Football Club confirmed that Sala was on the plane.
Authorities have launched a search and rescue mission after the small aircraft said to have been carrying two people disappeared off the radar in the English Channel.
Guernsey Police say the light aircraft disappeared on Monday evening north of Alderney.
