Tax fraud: Ronaldo escapes jail after accepting deal for £16.6m fine

Portuguese star Cristiano Mourinho will not be heading to jail after agreeing a deal with the Spanish authority for a £16.6m fine over tax fraud case.

According to a UK Sun report, Ronaldo, who was present in court today, was spotted with his partner Georgina Rodriguez outside the Madrid court.

In 2018, the former Real Madrid star reached an agreement with Spanish authorities to settle the case by paying a fine, while opting for a suspended sentence.

Ronaldo, who failed to score for Juventus against Chievo on Monday night, was all smiles in his black suit along with a CR7-branded sunglasses declaring "everything's perfect" as he made his way after signing autographs.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo to appear in court on Monday 14 January 2019.

The 33-year-old was accused of evading tax to the tunes of €14.7 million during his reign in the La Liga according to Spanish news outlet AS.

Ronaldo spent nine seasons at Real Madrid and won four Champions Leagues, two La Ligas and several other collective and individual awards.

The Portuguese international is expected to plead guilty to four count charge when he appears in court next month.
