Former Chelsea star Ashley Cole completes move to Derby County

- Ex England international Ashley Cole has completed a move to Derby County

- The 38-year-old will have a reunion with his former teammate at Chelsea Lampard

- Englishman Frank Lampard is the current manager of the Championship club

Former Chelsea and one of the best defenders in the history of the Premier League Ashley Cole has completed a transfer move to Championship club Derby County.

The 38-year-old ex England international will now be under his old teammate at Chelsea Frank Lampard who is presently the gaffer of Derby County.

Cole had been plying his trade in America at MLS club LA Galaxy for the last three seasons including as captain last year.

But at the end of the 2018 season as Galaxy missed the playoffs for the second straight season, Ashley Cole was released.

He signed a six-month contract for Derby County and he is expected to be at the club until the end of the ongoing season in the English second tier division.

''I've kept in touch with Lampard to see how good the team has been playing and followed Derby since Lamps got here.

"For me, it was a no-brainer to come here and get involved in this great environment and hopefully push for promotion." Cole said on Derby You-tube Channel.

Ashley Cole began his career at Arsenal under Frenchman Arsene Wenger in 1999, and he won two Premier League titles and three FA Cup trophies before he joined the Blues in 2006.

And while playing for the Stamford Bridge club, Cole won another Premier League title, the Champions League and also the Europa.

Earlier, had reported how Premier League giants Chelsea qualified for the next round of the 2018 Carabao Cup after beating visiting lower League side Derby County 3-2 on Wednesday night, October 31.
