- Atiku Abubakar has said leaders of the ruling APC are liars and deceivers
- The presidential candidate of the PDP, however, promised that he would not disappoint Nigerians if he was elected president
- On his part, PDP national chairman, said Atiku remains the man that will defeat the APC
The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, on Monday, January 21, described leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as liars and deceivers.
The former vice president said this at the PDP presidential rally in Dutse, the Jigawa state capital.
He also promised the huge crowd at the rally that he would not disappoint Nigerians if he was elected president.
“I will not disappoint you all. You should know that the APC are liars, they came to lie to us and deceived us. When we gave them our mandate, when they became president they forget about all what they promised us.
“Another important thing is that you should all come out and vote, don’t just vote but ensure that your vote count,” The Punch quoted Atiku as saying.
Also speaking at the rally, the PDP national chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, said Atiku would unite the country if elected president.
His words: “Atiku remains the man that will defeat the APC, the man they are afraid of. The man who just came from America, he has gone and spoken to the civilised world. He has addressed the international community that as soon as he is sworn in businesses will begin to grow.”
On his part, a former governor of Jigawa state, Alhaji Sule Lamido, said: “Others are para-civilians and they don’t understand compassion, love and peace is alien to them. So the family of the PDP all over Nigeria are counting on Atiku Abubakar. We trust you, because we know you can do it. Failure is not part of our culture, failure is the culture of the APC.”
Meanwhile, a former deputy national publicity secretary of the APC, Comrade Timi Frank, has warned the ruling party to desist from its alleged renewed plot to frame up and arrest Atiku.
Comrade Frank was reacting to the words by the minister of information and culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, who said Atiku has a case to answer over the collapse of the defunct Platinum Habib Bank (Bank PHB).
In a statement sent to Legit.ng on Sunday, January 20, Comrade Frank warned the APC-led federal government to perish the thought, stressing that any attempt to arrest Atiku will be a direct recipe for chaos and anarchy in the country ahead of the 2019 polls.
