Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo failed to score from the spot but Juventus showed champions stuff to thrash Chievo Verona 3-0 on Monday, January 21.
Douglas Costa and Emre Can scored two first-half goals before Daniele Rugani was allowed to nod home the third late on as Juve restored their nine-point lead over second-placed Napoli.
On resumption of the second stanza, the Bianconeri had their moments to increase the lead, but could not hit target as Chievo tried to catch them on the break.
Mattia Bani was cautioned for a handball but Ronaldo could only watch as veteran goalie Stefano Sorrentino save the spot-kick.
Ronaldo equally missed other chances in the second stanza to end the night empty-handed.

Two other yellow cards were dished out to Mattia De Sciglio and Sofian Kiyine.
But on the 84th minute Rugani finally scored the third goal on the night for Juve.
At the blast of the final whistle by referee Marco Piccinini the score board read Juventus 3-0 Chievo.
Juve have now restored their nine-point lead over second-placed Napoli as well as remain unbeaten in Serie A.
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo lead the way as the Bianconeri prepared to battle relegation threatened Chievo.
According to a UK Daily Mail report, Ronaldo and teammates will face a difficult opponents in Chievo, who are keen to surviving the drop from Serie A.
Interestingly, the encounter which is Juventus first league game in 2019, will likely see the Turin-based outfit remain unbeaten if they survive the basement team.
