A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Akwa Ibom, Godswill Akpabio, Akwa Ibom, has declared that his state and the south south region off the country will soon be taken over by his party just like it happened in the south west.
The south south is dominated by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), but Akpabio, a former governor of Akwa Ibom, expressed his optimism in Uyo, the capital of the state on Monday, January 21, at a rally to flag off the APC’s campaign.
“We are going back to join the south west and the north in the politics of Nigeria.
“I’m the coordinator of the Buhari campaign in the south south, have I ever failed?
“So, I am telling you that south south will fall for APC in these elections,” Premium Times quoted him as saying.
Akpabio also declared that President Muhammadu Buhari will win the February 16, election and, after then, give some appointment slot to Akwa Ibom people.
Akpabio unexpectedly talked about the resignation of Nsima Ekere as deputy governor of Akwa Ibom, which happened under him (Akpabio) as the governor of the state.
Addressing Nsima, who is now the governorship candidate of the APC, Akpabio said: “I don’t want to know why you resigned as deputy governor. You said you resigned for personal reasons.
“Even if I am one of those that conspired to send you out as deputy governor, I am now asking you to come back.
“Please, Nsima Ekere come back! Please, come back!
“For me, I have moved on to the next level.”

Ekere, on his part, promised to end poverty in the state if voted in as governor.
“With all the resources God has blessed this state with, we shouldn’t have any business with poverty,” Ekere said.
Legit.ng earlier reported that the Akwa Ibom state governor and candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Udom Emmanuel, recently presented an 8-point agenda ahead of the 2019 general elections.
The governor unveiled the 172 pages manifesto on Wednesday, January 16 while flagging off his campaign at the Uyo township stadium.
He also promised to consolidate on the gains of his first term, while also reeling out his achievements in office so far.
